This Week’s Song
Why
Well about a month ago, near the end of April here in Ottawa we had one of those abnormally warm spring days. So I decided to go on a walk with a friend and we ended up going to hang out with her twin sister’s boyfriend at his apartment. The one and only Dean. A meeting that was already greatly destined to happen.
Okay, let’s give some context. The friend I went on the walk with name is Karolyn. We met through rowing. I decided to work at the same restaurant as Karolyn last summer, The Canal Ritz. Her twin sister Cloe also worked at that restaurant and Dean is Cloe’s boyfriend.
Sometimes I enjoy being an avid Instagram commenter, with (in my humble opinion) my greatest hits being between the years 2017-2020. I just don’t have the same zest, flair, or consistency that I used to. Anyways, Cloe often posts her boyfriend on her Instagram, and with an Instagram name like “Big Dean Energy” I simply could not resist showing my full support of this man. About 10 months had passed since I hopped on the Dean Fandom and I had still never met him in person. That is until the walk.
When we arrived at the apartment, we were welcomed by The Dean. Dean has great energy and surpassed my expectations of coolness I ever imagined he would be. But one of the things that struck me the most was when we mentioned he sends out a weekly newsletter to anyone who subscribes. Generally sent out to any friends or family, he talks about anything he has learnt or found interesting during that week. I thought it was unironically one of the most fascinating ideas I had heard of, not only to share your life and interests with other people but also to look at as a journal/ reflection place that might keep you somewhat accountable. So this is what I have decided to do.
For now, I am going to keep this newsletter pretty open, and I will talk about anything I like, learned or that happened to me. I just hope to be consistent and keep a record of my thoughts here. I’m hoping each newsletter will be short and sweet but also… entertaining maybe? Maybe you’ll chuckle one day👀? If you read this and have any comments, questions, or anything, please reply and send me an email or even a text (613-220-9548). Dean has turned his weekly newsletter into a video series, which I also would like to consider eventually if I keep this up. My current idea is for Minute Mondays (he was doing Six Minute Saturdays, but that might be too long for me), but we shall see🤷.
